Prenote: The following was actually written on Tuesday, 8.14.12 I was SO exhausted after first day, I stepped away from my blog for a moment and ended up conking out.
I'm really, really, REALLY sorry I've not updated in a few days. Especially since I should have at least updated with more recent pics.
Anyway, all built up to the First Day. Overall I like this group of kids. Got some real cuties in there. And smarties. I HOPE it's not just the honeymoon phase for the ones who were really trying to make that good impression/I'm too tired to act up :) I don't think that's the case. I think how they are on the first day is a pretty good indicator for the coming days. Including the ones whose behavior was impressionable in other ways. Squirrely, Talky, and Affectionate Name TBA. He was retained and I have a feeling he's not real thrilled with that. Understandably. Squirrely really appears to like working so that's wonderful. Talky may be, as Teeny Tiny Teacher referred to one of her darlings, related to the turtle family in some form. Not that he is incapable of improving (I think/assume) but that's my first impression. I have a few like that. But overall, I have some wonderful little personalities! I'm due for at least 3 more kiddos to come in who are not present the first day as well as up to 3 more above that to hit my cap. It was really nice with 17 today :)
I always know and always forget that the first day is very slow in terms of "accomplishing" things. I wish got more done with them or at least completed what we did do in a better way. Tomorrow is a new day and I'll do better :)
Soooo...to have some fun I've joined...
End Prenote.
Now we're up to present time, Thursday, 8.16.12.
Here is my FIRST Monday Made It! As I said, t's so NOT a big deal but I made it...and on Monday!
All I did was print it out and stick it in a frame. Forgive me for forgetting where I got it. If you know or it's yours, please let me know so I can give proper credit. It's just so cute and colorful!
Some class photos updates...I still have things to do even though school has started and that drives me crazy.
You must ignore the empty parts...still figuring out what to put there.
Igore those rips, too :/ I was NOT about to change all that black paper for 2 rips..although I DID debate it.
View of room from back to front left
The room arrangement is working VERY well :) YAY!
My teacher area
I love the "bulletin board" I created on the left wall
for my important things
Did another one on opposite side of room for student work
Must get those fasteners removed from my desk. Ugly.
Labels from Time-4-Kindergarten's Teacher Notebook page
They are red/white polka dots with black border...much cuter in reality
Calendar/Meeting/Teaching area
This is a first for me with the carpet like this. I like it but it also takes getting used to as I usually had a small table to work from with my ELMO on it. That gets awkward.
My library! With labels! What a difference labels make!
Writing center will be on the right
A view of the wall to the right of my teach desk
Work in progress...as always :) Still have things to put up that I purchased from TPT so I'm looking forward to that!
Tomorrow is Friday..woo hoo! My feet are BARKIN'!

Thank you!
DeleteI also need to remember to live in the moment, take deep breaths and keep myself calm. When the kids get all wound up, the best thing that I can do is ground myself so that I can coral the kids back in. Enjoy your new batch of kidlets.
ReplyDeleteI found you through the jitters linky and am a new follower.
