Long time, no see!

*Blows off dust from blog*

Well, hello there, fellow bloggy friends!  Wowwee!  It has been WAY too long!  I'm slightly embarrassed at the length of time but life was very busy and full for a bit there and, well, my poor little blog got neglected.  That CANNOT  happen anymore.  I will be better.

So we've been on winter break for 2 weeks and I have a week left. While I'm fine with getting back to normal, I'm really enjoying having the time off.

I just wanted to post a few pics of some things I'd meant to post A LOT earlier...

With the help of Amy from The Resource(ful) Room and her wonderful word wall design, I updated my word wall from last year.  Thank you, Amy!

Sorry about the poor view...it looks really cute in reality. Really.

Up close look at the alphabet headers created by Amy :)
I created the word wall cards using Smiley Monster font.  They are all the words from the first grade Treasures series.  I use a different colored border for each unit.  I plan on putting them up at my TPT store.

During the November, the students did (what I like to call) pointillism art.  I know it's not exactly that but it kind of is :)  I had seen this idea in the past and really wanted to do it.  Then when I was reading Kristen's blog - A Teeny Tiny Teacher - I saw she had done this project and it reminded me...Oh yeah!  I gotta do this now before fall is over!

The students created beautiful fall trees using simply Q-tips and paint.  Very fun!  I took the tip from Kristen and made a very light circle for the kids to stay in.  I demo'd how to make the tree...just had them color it in for time's sake.  They turned out really cute! I told them it's okay to have some of the "leaves" falling but as you can see, some of the trees must have been in a windstorm :p

For Thanksgiving, we did do the turkey disguise project, as a family project.  Like a goof, I forgot to take pics before sending them back home. Grr.

BUT...one of my grade level teammates came up with the idea of having the students do a similar thing with the Gingerbread Man for Christmas! He doesn't want to be eaten so you must disguise him! Brilliant!  We had some oh so cute ideas!  Take a looksee...

The Gingerbread Man disguised as "an elf".

The Gingerbread Man disguised as "Spiderman".

The Gingerbread Man disguised as "a knight".  Love it!
By the way, that's not a frowny mouth...this his moustache (per student ) :D

The Gingerbread Man disguised as "a girl".  So festive!

The Gingerbread Man disguised as "an elf".  Another cutie!

The Gingerbread Man disguised as "a clown".  Is that fun or what?!

The Gingerbread Man disguised as "Santa".  I love that tree!

The Gingerbread Man disguised as "a drummer". Adorable!

I hope everyone is enjoying their winter vacation and gearing up for the return.  I can't believe it's almost halfway through the year.  Time goes way too fast!

Best wishes to you all and Happy New Year!  Have fun, stay warm and dry and be safe!
