Since I can't call this Five for Friday, this'll be Some for Sunday 😄
And, yes. I know it's been
Well, I'm just going to rip of this bandaid and just go with it. Come along!

During the winter break, I was able to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I'd really only heard ONE song by them...which I LOOOOOVE and was basing it on that as well as their name (Orchestra, y'know?) Weeeellll, I was surprised! Most of the music was nothing like I imagined but still, it was AMAZING! If you ever get a chance to see this group in concert . . . DOOOO IT!

Our first week back from winter break...scratch that...our first DAY back, we were blessed with rain. Which means rainy day schedule. Which means indoor recess. Which means...well, you all know. I don't mind rainy days but was looking forward to getting back to normalcy and reestablishing the schedule which rainy days do not allow. But the kids enjoyed choosing their own activities for this. I love the kiddo that holding the stuffed animal as a model for the artist!

After we wrote about how to make a snowman *again, cue Frozen music*, we built the snowman using templates provided by Amy Lemons. Due to time, I had them draw and cut out their own sticks for the arms and they did a darn good job!

All this week (yes, ALL), it rained. So were were inside all week. Luckily we did not get sick of each other (I don't think and hope not). It rained for HOURS on last Friday. I have a rep for exaggerating things like a long time is "forever", wanting a little snack is "SO hungry", and so on. But, no. It really did rain for hours, from before 8am until about 1 pm. See? HourS. it was very windy, too so rain was coming into the main buildings' entrances through the open doors. Our classrooms open within the buildings. I don't want you all to think . . . geez, just close the doors to your classroom! t rained more later that afternoon but work was done so then it was okay. Ha-ha!
On this day, also, was the Presidential Inauguration. Regardless of people's political views, I felt it important that my firsties watched the event. We didn't watch the whole entire ceremony and parades and all (too long and we did have school day to do), but we watched a little before as well as (now, President) Donald Trump taking his oath.
We also learned a bit about Inauguration Day with the help of Simply Kinder's Inauguration Day's Easy Reader. Like she says it's a way to recognize the day and stay neutral. Great for future inaugurations and it's FREE!

The complexity of it all is a little over their heads but it does help them to understand what this day is about.
Say safe, warm and/or dry wherever you are!
